How do we increase women economic empowerment in India?

Gender equality is more than a goal. It is necessary for meeting the challenge of reducing poverty, promoting sustainable development & building good governance. Achieving a gender-equal world requires the collective engagement of women and men, girls and boys.

Did you know that India’s female labour force participation rate (FLFPR) stands at just 27%, compared to 96% for men. On an average, 66%of the work done by Indian women is unpaid, compared to 12%for men.

Empowering women in the economy and closing gender gaps in the world of work are key to achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
